Que Padre!

Can beginners attend the congress?

  • YES!! This year we will be offering Salsa, Bachata & other beginner classes. Each class will give you the technique and basic patterns that you can use in your social dances over the weekend!

Can I buy tickets at the door? If so, which payment methods can I use?

  • Absolutely, you can pay with card or cash only, NO Venmo or PayPal will be accepted.

 

I cannot attend the whole weekend. Can I purchase a one day or night pass?

  • Most definitely, you have the option to buy a One Day Only Pass, Night Only, (which includes Workshops during the day, shows and social at night. Some of these options are already available. Others will become available on June 1st .

Does the full pass include the silent headphone party?

  • The full pass does not include the silent headphones. We wanted to only add the extra cost to people that wanted to partake in that part of the event. However, IT IS HIGHLY WORTH IT! There is something amazing about dancing on the beach and watching the sunrise!

I lost my wristband. How do I get a new one?

  • You will need to go to the registration table and bring your ID with you to get another wristband. If your wristband breaks, please bring the old wristband and you will receive a new one in exchange (You still need your ID for this).

Can I take videos of the workshops in progress?

  • No, but you may take a video at the end of class. The instructors do a demo at the end which you may record.

Can I book private lessons with the instructors and who can I talk to about booking a session?

  • Yes! You can book private lessons with the instructors. Contact them directly to save your spot.

Can I take videos and pictures during the event?

  • ABSOLUTELY! Please make sure you tag us at #QPLDF #QPLDF2024 on Instagram and Facebook!

Do I need a dance partner to attend the event?

  • Absolutely Not! You do not need a dance partner. There will be partner rotations during the workshops. And for the socials, dancing with new and different partners is the name of the game. You also end up meeting new friendly people this way :).  â€‹

​What should I wear during the day for workshops?

  • Wear comfortable clothes (workout attire, Leggings, sweat pants, t-shirts, etc. ) and bring your dance shoes. You can also purchase dance attire and shoes from our vendors at the event. 

​

Where can I buy dance shoes?

  • We will have amazing vendors that will bring a beautiful selection of shoes during the congress. Make sure you stop by to get yourself a pair of dance shoes.

Parking

What is the parking situation? Are there any waivers for using the Hotel’s parking lot?

  • Hotel parking is only for attendees staying at the hotel. Parking fee has been waived.  For attendees NOT staying at the hotel, we have set up parking next to the hotel and there's public parking at the Metro stop.  There will be parking available directly next to hotel. The gate will be staffed in order to secure the area and take moneys for parking. It will be $25 for the day at the gate, or you can buy a 3-day pass from us for $40 and it will be good for all 3 days.  

Travel

Is there a FREE shuttle from the airport to the Hotel?

  • There is no free shuttle from any of the airports to the hotel. However, here are a few ways that you can join us!


A. Flying into Brownsville Airport

  • Valley Metro & Island Metro ($4 each way, per person)

    • 50 Line  from Brownsville airport.  Get off at Port Isabel Las Palmas stop. Then Island Metro will pick you up and take you to the bus stop at the entry road to the hotel. 

  • Lyft or Uber (-$45 - $60 each way, per ride. Rates may vary during surges)

  • Taxi ($ more than the above, per ride)

  • South Padre shuttle service is giving 10% off rides when you call and schedule pick up with them. Get a bigger discount when reserving as a group. 

 

B. Flying into Harlingen

  • Lyft or Uber ($50 - $75 each way. Rates may vary during surges)

Food and Drinks

Can I bring food and drinks into the venue?

  • You may bring snacks and water or non-alcoholic drinks during the workshops. Outside alcohol and alcoholic drinks are not allowed in the ballrooms nor the lobby area during the shows or socials unless they have purchased your drinks from the hotel bar. Drinks purchased at the bar support the Holiday Inn Hotel and QPLDF as well. Thanks for your support.

What restaurants are near the hotel?

  • South Padre has many options for where you can eat. Here are some options that are within walking distance of the hotel. However, if you would like to go a little bit farther you’ll find many

 

  • Walking distance:

  1. Yummies ( 20 min walk)

  2. Gabriella’s (20  min walk)

  3. Russo’s Pizza (16 min walk)

  4. Kohnami  (16 min walk)

  5. Tropical Smoothie cafe (15 min walk)

  6. Dirty Al’s (12 min walk)

Where is the nearest Grocery store?

  • Blue Marlon about a mile down the main strip

Vendors, Partners, & Promoters

Can I bring Banners or Flyers to promote my event?

  • Yes! Banner displays are $50 per night and $100 for the whole weekend. If you have banners or flyers for your event, please email the organizers before bringing them to the event. All flyers and banners must be approved by the organizers before they are displayed at the Que Padre Latin Dance Festival. Email: Quepadreldf@gmail.com

Can I become a vendor for Que Padre?

  • Yes! We'd love to have everyone. However, there are limited spots available. Fill out your application now on our Vendor page!

Refunds/Transfers

Are passes refundable?

  • First of all, we hate that you can't join us, but the pass are non-refundable. The passes are transferable for only the following year. The deadline for ticket transfer is June 10th.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else and what is the deadline?

  • Absolutely. The deadline for ticket transfer is June 10th. Follow instructions below for transferring a ticket, there is a $40 fee. ** The person who owns the ticket must initiate the transfer and pay the $40 dollar fee in order to start the process **

 

What is the the process to transfer my ticket?

  • Visit the website and click on Transfer.  Complete the form and submit payment.
